The Hand

Shinobi have always been fascinating so much so that they have been storified and talked about in the East as well as in the West.

Daredevil found it’s origins in the west and a key organization that is a thorn in the side of the vigilante is The Hand.

The Hand, a ruthless, super villainous organization comprised of Shinobi who are solely evil and only seek to further their objective of attaining power. To achieve what they seek they will strategically do whatever is necessary.

They originated from the Land of the Rising Sun but they have people everywhere.

They started in 1588 as part of the greater Samurai organization but eventually they were integrated into Snakeroot, which at its core is evil being that it serves a demon called “The Beast”.

“The hand has five fingers, each of which can exist independently of others. Not unlike the five islands that form Japan. However, when the five fingers of the hand come together for a single, unified purpose… the hand becomes an object of unwavering power!”[1]

— Kagenobu Yoshioka, founder of the Hand, 1588
Yet, wherever evil exists, there also resides the element of good.

The Ying to the Yang of the Hand is called “The Chaste”  a martial arts organization that is led by Stick, the blind mentor of Daredevil, the most fierce enemy of The Hand.

The story line of The Hand and The Chaste is epic and filled with rich detail inspired by the real elusive Shinobi of Japan.

One can learn so much from history and be entertained by it at the same time.

      1. I have topic about which you might like to do a little research (since I’ve noticed you are into research). Have you heard of the North Korean kidnappings that occurred of the western coast of Japan?
